‘Treetops Commitment to our Community’
The long awaited day of the final for our sponsored U12 girls football team, The Olympic Panthers came around on the 29th April. The girls were pensive and understandably very nervous however they showed so much determination and heart. There were more spectators and supporters than ever present which turned the atmosphere electric, hopefully this showed the girls how many people were routing for them. Treetops Liz, Amelia and Kerrie were present to cheer the girls on and show some moral support, and my did they have sore throats the next day!
The Treetops Team want to say how proud we are of every single player on the pitch, the girls played brilliantly and showed all the spirit and heart that we’ve grown to love over this season. Although on this occasion they didn’t bring home the winning cup they played with all their might and they made us proud. What an amazing achievement to get this far and be top of the league still!
The Treetops spirit and passion is never far away with our sponsored team, although they felt disheartened with the final score, they brushed themselves off and went on with a renewed focus and won their next league game just a few days later.
Here are a few words from Reception Manager Kerrie. Kerrie's daughter Erin is one of the Olympic Panther players. Also a few words from Adam and Oliver, the Panthers Team Coaches.
Oh wow! Saturdays match was a nail biter! All of the girls played absolutely amazing and for their first finals match they handled themselves so well and a credit to all. We wouldn't of got this far without all of the hard work of our brilliant coaches Adam and Ollie, they have always been there with their support and encouragement. I am sure 2023/2024 we will be back stronger...."Panthers Ay we!”…. Kerrie
We are so proud of all of the girls and the effort they put in yesterday. Although the result didn’t go their way, the team have developed so much in such a short time. Each and everyone of the girls, are a credit to the club and a delight to spend time with. I have had the delight of being stopped by a manager of an elite football club who has wished us luck and told me he has taken inspiration from the way the Panthers have played he has also revealed he wants his team to play like us! To get credit from other managers shows how well the girls conduct themselves. There are three games left of the season, the titles are in our hands. Thanks again for all your continued support, Oliver and I couldn’t of done it without you….. Adam & Oliver
Thank you to all of our patients for your support.

A few mornings ago, I was partaking in my usual breakfast routine and stumbled across an article in the National Geographic`s 2019 Environment edition which was titled `How your toothbrush became part of the plastic crisis`. I found this title to be intriguing because I like to think I am very environmentally aware and conscious, yet I am a Dental Hygienist so could the National Geographic be suggesting my beloved profession is contributing to the plastics crisis? After a lot of research the answer is actually no not entirely, the problem is not solely at the door of the traditional plastic toothbrush it is more with the way the toothbrush is recycled. I was astounded to read that due to plastic being virtually indestructible, it means that there is a possibility, that nearly every single toothbrush that has been made since the 1930`s is still out there somewhere in the world living on in our seas or washed up on our coastlines because plastics can take nearly 100 years to degrade. This got me thinking about my lovely mum as she was born in 1939 and I know she brushes her teeth twice a day, just how many of mums toothbrushes could of seen the same fate in her lifetime so far? The answer is between 164 and 328 toothbrushes! This has blown my mind to think that every toothbrush she has ever used is still on the earth today. After spending the morning pondering over what to do (and a very animated conversation with mum) we have decided we are never going to buy a plastic toothbrush again! I am often given free samples from companies in my job role and I use a plastic electric toothbrush myself, so I have been busy looking for alternatives for us both and hope to spread the word so we are all aware of the facts and then this will allow us to make decisions that feel right for us personally. So when is it the right time to replace my toothbrush though? Check for fraying. If your toothbrush is beginning to fray at the edges, it is no longer fit to brush teeth, and is ready for a new life. Fraying means that the outer edges of the bristles have splayed outward. If the bristles have only a slight outward curve, your toothbrush probably still has some life as a toothbrush left in it. Check your brush's fade line. Some toothbrushes are equipped with a small line (usually blue) that will gradually fade and disappear as the lifespan of your toothbrush deteriorates. If your toothbrush has a fading line to indicate when it is time to be replaced, pay attention and give it a new purpose by recycling it properly!
What should I do with a used toothbrush?
There are lots of ways to repurpose your old toothbrush. You could store it away for cleaning small areas in the household that are difficult to reach with a traditional scrubbing brush. Perhaps keep it handy for spot cleaning small stains on your laundry, or clean beauty products. Using a toothbrush, you can remove debris from the vent of your hair dryer, keep your brow brush in good shape, and keep your hairbrush free of extra hair and dirt!
Always sanitise before repurposing. While reusing old toothbrushes is wonderful, your mouth is known for harboring quite a lot of bacteria. Before reusing a toothbrush, make sure you submerge it in boiling water for 3-5 minutes to sanitise it.
Stick around while your toothbrush boils; plastic can break down quickly, and you don't want to come back to a mess of melted plastic.
If you are not comfortable boiling your toothbrush, you can also run it through a dishwashing cycle.
Reduce, Reuse or Recycle
If repurposing your old toothbrush doesn’t appeal to you, another option is to ethically recycle. Most local authorities do not make provisions to recycle hard plastics and toothbrushes will often find their way to a landfill where they decompose into the soil over many years. If recycling appeals to you, then there are numerous Boots stores surrounding Wolverhampton that will take not only hard plastic toothbrushes but batteries and other items that are not collected by your normal refuse collection. Just follow the link below to see where your nearest Boots recycling store is.

So this is the end of my mid morning musings, but thankfully not the end of our toothbrushes, just a different way of disposing of them!
In April we had the pleasure of sharing one team birthday and two Treetops anniversaries!
We wished happy birthday to our super Clinician, Dr Sindy Castro then marveled that our Marketing Lead Liz has been with us for 4 years and our specialist Endodontist Dr Chris Burn has been here for a massive 7 years!
How time flies when we are having fun!
We look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries with these valued Treetops Team members! .
Can we please give a warm welcome to our new Team members!
We have Dr Asad Butt our new talented Dentist, Katelen and Grace our new lovely qualified Dental Nurses and India who is part of our wonderful Front of House Reception Team. We have chosen our new team members carefully and we’re so proud to welcome them, as you get to know them, you will see how friendly, and patient focused they are. We hope you agree that these new faces will only strengthen our already formidable team.
Please feel free in giving all of our new Team members a big Treetops welcome the next time you visit.
Wow, what a fantastic end of treatment transformation!
Here we have a patient who presented with slight alignment issues with his top and bottom teeth, along with a slight diastema (gap) on the upper central incisors. Our wonderful patient and Dr Vis Pather decided the method of treatment that would create the desired solution would be traditional fixed metal braces.
We hope you will agree this transformation is another ...WOW!
`Tooth be told, this one is amazing!`
This transformation has given us a real wow! Treetops very talented Dr Amandeep Bhamber and Nurse Jo have transformed a beautiful smile into an award winning smile by using Invisalign, a dental bridge and teeth whitening! We hope you will agree that the results speak for themselves.
Well done Dr Bhamber and Nurse Jo, fantastic work.
`We are so enameled by this photograph.`
From a broken and decayed tooth, to a bright and perfectly formed tooth thanks to Dr Pankhania and Nurse Emma for this marvelous composite build up!
Well done both!
'Ain`t no filling like a Treetops filling!.'
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Dr Sindy Castro and Nurse Simi`s amalgam to composite filling transformation!
Another barely noticeable filling!
We are delighted to report that the number of patients not attending their appointments in April has decreased slightly from 26 hours of lost clinical time to a total of 16 hours.
Thank you so much for letting us know ahead of time if you are unable to attend your appointment as this allows us to book your time slot in for another patient that may be in need.
Thank you
Treetops National Picnic Day Celebration!
The most obvious and sensible way to pay honour and respect to National Picnic Day is to pack up a basket or cooler, grab a blanket to sit on, and head out with some friends or family members for a picnic.
As National Picnic Day was on Sunday the 23rd April, we decided to celebrate together by having our picnic on the Friday in our beautiful Treetops garden. It was so refreshing to be able to enjoy each others company instead of rushing around at lunchtime. We would have loved to have finally crawled out of the darkness of winter and stretch out in the sunshine but sadly it was raining! This didn't stop us though and the Treetops spirit was out in force because the brave amongst us braced themselves under the gazebo, but the sensible ones shared lunch inside!
Regardless of the good old British weather we still thoroughly enjoyed sharing our picnic together as a team.
We hope you enjoy the photographs!
