Ear Wax Removal
Ear wax is a natural substance produced by the body to protect the ear canal. However, an excess buildup can lead to discomfort, hearing difficulties, and sometimes even infections. At Treetops Wellness Clinic, we provide safe and effective ear wax removal services to help alleviate these issues and ensure your ears stay healthy.
Why have your ear wax removed?
Ear suctioning is a medical procedure used to remove earwax and debris from the ear canal and is now one of the treatments available at Treetops. Safe and efficient ear wax suctioning improves hearing and comfort - it's a quick and painless procedure performed by our registered medical nurse.
Why choose professional ear wax removal?
While ear wax removal can sometimes be attempted at home, using incorrect methods can push wax further into the canal, potentially damaging your ear or causing impaction. Our trained clinicians use gentle and precise techniques, such as microsuction and irrigation, to effectively remove ear wax in a safe, controlled environment.
How the treatment works...
Unlike traditional methods like ear syringing, ear suctioning uses a gentle, controlled vacuum to safely and effectively clear the ear canal. This technique minimises the risk of damage to the ear drum or canal and is often recommended for individuals with sensitive ears, a history of ear infections, or an excessive build up of earwax.
What do I need to book my professional ear wax removal treatment?
This treatment is no longer widely accessible on the NHS but you can be referred by your doctor for treatment at Treetops and there will be no need for a prior consultation with one of our experienced and qualified practitioners.
Without a medical referral, you will need to arrange a consultation and ear check with one of our medically trained clinicians by calling reception on 01902 842 555 or by popping into the clinic.

After treatment
Following your ear wax removal by suctioning at Treetops Wellness Clinic, taking a few simple steps can help keep your ears comfortable and prevent future buildup. Here’s a guide to caring for your ears after treatment:
-
Avoid inserting anything into your ears (such as cotton swabs or earbuds) for at least 24 hours, as your ear canals will be more sensitive.
-
Keep ears dry: For the first 24 hours, avoid swimming or letting water enter your ears during showers. You can gently place cotton balls at the ear entrance to block water when showering.
-
Minimize exposure to cold air to prevent any discomfort. If needed, wear a hat or ear covering when outside.
